twilight

i have just finished reading twilight!

yes i know im a century or two behind times but whatever.

i wouldnt even have bothered reading it if i hadnt been consumed with curiosity about why and how it got such raving reviews.

and also how it managed to get ppl who dont even like movies or books to pay $6 to watch the movie, read the entire series, download movie clips and even the SOUNDTRACK.

hah. i wonder who.

and why.

because after reading the book, i found it quite...un-fantastic!

granted, the story was quite compelling at the end and i couldnt put it down long enough to finish doing my bio spa skill A, but really, it was the epiphany of chick lit.

i read the first half of the book with one eyebrow cocked because the relationship between bella and edward simply did not make logical sense, it went from intense loathing to suddenly 'oooh edward you are my whole life' 'i love you i love you yes i do' all in a matter of a few days, without without much of a link in between.

which makes you wonder if you had missed the page describing the brainwashing both characters must have suffered.

i mean, i understand this is a book for teenage girls, but still.

and it seemed the only reason he liked her was because she smelled nice?!

and in a way that qualifies the word 'aroma' instead of 'fragrance'.

because we afterall do not describe things we eat as fragrant.

plus the whole dazzling in the sun thing was overkill.

on the whole i found it quite...amusing, i suppose.

i had a feeling the success of this saga wasnt exactly due to the fantastic storyline or prose anyway.

especially when i heard 'eh, why isnt his face on the cover?'

(though there was the exception of josephine who claimed robert pattinson was ugly and had ruined her impression of edward cullen.

kill lights are going on in a million girls' eyes now.

wasnt me who said it, now.)
