that elusive, long-awaited day has finally arrived.

and passed.

approximately 55 minutes ago.

the performance was overall successful, i suppose, except for some minor cockups and bianca's accident. she apparently fell down and fractured her ankle in the middle of a stunt, so i heard. i cannot imagine how mortifying that must b, poor her.

so anyway dionne and i arrived at kallang at 2.45 only to see the other hip hop dancers stranded in the lobby looking lost, ha, but we soon got to the auditorium by following some others, who somehow seemed to know exactly where to go.

then we watched the rehearsals, the play that has apparently already been used once, and this african guy with a serious attitude problem whose item was awfully boring. he had actually been dancing for about 2 minutes when he realized that the song wasnt the one he wanted, dots.

we went to look for the dressing rooms and spent some time putting on makeup because everyone else had theirs on already, but thanks to our less than adequate skills we took a lot longer than others and the result was far more weird. in that period of time we also missed the shine and on2 rehearsal, hence missing the change of positions and ultimately sealing our fate for later.

just before the performance we went on stage behind the curtain whilst the audience was filing in to practice on2 and decide on a final pose, then coincidentally (or not so) the music that was playing to entertain the audience was changed to the on2 song. all of a sudden the rest of the ppl doing last-minute rehearsals all started doing on2 which was pretty funny, because i was wondering about the consequences should the curtain fall down at that moment.

when the first performances began we went to the wings to watch because our own item was one of the first few. the area was haunted by bleach who was even more ghostly than usual, and drifted around scarily keeping everyone in line. we all started feeling nervy during the last minutes and went through the same procedure as we did before the competition 2 months ago, ha.

the actual performance was ok, i guess, with no mistakes (that i know of).

then we rushed off to change for the other hip hop and went back to the wings, where we waited in relative calm because the initial nerves had left alrdy now that we knew what it was like out on that unknown, elusive stage.

the second hip hop was ok too, except for one mistake on dionne's part, ha.

when that was over we took our time changing for on2, because a lot more effort was needed for that. then we took our sweet time loitering around, even practicing shine with some of the girls and sharing some of their fries.

we were still eating when someone told us that on2 was next.

what a shock to the system that was. we rushed off to the wings again, then i realized i was on the opposite side from where i was sposed to b because i had followed dionne to the guys' side.

my first taste of hysteria that night.

so i ran off in the dark and managed to get to the other side, only to be submerged in darkness again when we walked on stage because the lights were off. but even with all the previous grievances on2 actually turned out alright, as compared to the SHINE which was directly after that.

because we had missed the position change dionne and i messed up the front part and i just rushed into the only available open gap there was. but the compiled anxiety finally took its toll and i forgot a step, starting into another one too soon, the 1st Big Mistake. the 2nd one was my expression, which no doubt was shell-shocked and panicky, and from watching the performances i realized that the faces of the performers were very clearly seen from below.

but thankfully my suffering finally ended.

i cannot believe that this is the fruit of a month of labor.
