back in the world where chinese characters rule and people give you spoons when you ask for plastic bags.

yesterday: i smsed dora till the very last minute, because i started fearing that the pilot would b able to intercept my messages. we were in seated in the economy class, bleh. the difference in the size of the seats was so huge that, in raffles class, there were only 2 seats on the window side whilst three seats were stuffed together in economy class.

i was glued to the window during takeoff. it was rather marvelous watching the sea, until i saw the weird shape. i was watching the boats on the water, then all of a sudden i saw a dark shadow in the water. it was moving quickly, and was big enough to b a shark. isnt it bizarre to see a shark when you're up on a plane?

after the takeoff things were very dull. i watched bewitched, which wasnt very interesting, then mr and mrs smith for 15 minutes. its a totally bimbotic, airheaded movie. after that i decided to take a look at who's line is it anyway, and THAT was as irresistibly funny as ever. too bad there was only one episode. so i switched to sharkboy and lavagirl in the end. another substanceless movie.

my eyes were totally sore by then so i played the 'name a ___' game with my mom. we started with 'name a country' and it was a pretty competitive round cuz we're evenly matched countrynamewise. after that i wanted u.s states, whilst she wanted china states, so we played one round of each. obviously she won the china round and i won the u.s round. by then the plane was beginning to land, so i stuck myself to the window again.

on the way out we saw the guy who played sanyuan on that channel 8 sitcom about the netherworld or whatever. zero to hero, i think the name was. he was dressed in PINK. why do guys like to wear pink nowaday? its so gross.

well, customs blah blah blah and all, and we finally reached the outside world. beijing's temperature is nice in some aspects. its warm enough to not warrant a winter coat but cool enough that you'd feel chilled if you were out in just a short-sleeved t-shirt, which i soon found out.

the disappointing part is its not cold enough to create a drastic change from singapore's climate. one of the major points of going on vacation is experiencing a change in climate.

i found it odd that people went about in pullovers and scarfs, because i felt perfectly fine after donning a singapore-made jacket. even my dad wore 3 layers of clothing. very weird.

my mom started feeling ill after that. not very surprising, really. so we finally turned in after changing rooms because the first room consisted of only one bedroom. the room we changed to contains FOUR bedrooms and FIVE beds. i get to sleep in a different bed every night here, until we go to xi'an.

today:

we went to the silk market again. i bought magnetic bracelets/anklets/necklaces for buffa and dora, but im thinking of keeping them cause they're so nice. heehee, but i'll buy more if we go there again tomorrow.

after that we went to this place which could have been sim lim square's twin, and I BOUGHT SIMS 2!!!! in fact, it was sims 2, night life, and university all together, and only 65 RMB. which is like $S15. i also bought this zoo tycoon look-alike thing, but, as i just found out, its a lot more frustrating. EVERYTHING IS IN CHINESE. EVEN THE INFORMATION BOOKLET. ITS LIKE LOOKING INTO A BIBLE, ALL THAT UNINTELLIGABLE, TINY, CHINESE SCRIPT. plus the picture quality's rather lousy.

my mom's health steadily deterioted the whole day, until she couldnt even stand the thought of riding in a car for fear of severe nausea. i voiced the idea of food poisoning and viola! i was right. after taking 3 food poisoning pills my mom felt so much better that she went out to a restaurant with my father. they were gone for hours, and at 10.30pm i still hadnt had dinner cause they were supposed to bring food back. tsk.

i later realized that they had gone shopping, SHOPPING, and had forgotten all about me. those pills must have worked miracles.

now they're watching first knight on star movies. miracle pill, indeed.

everyone please tag suggestions as to what i can do in china, since my parent veteoed horseback riding, skiing, skating, going to amusement parks, zoos, aquariums, and the great wall where the chairlift and toboggan run is.
