prom2

2009-12-11 2:04 a.m.

so prom is over and honestly it wasnt that fun.

in fact it was pretty much downright boring.

i had more fun in the HALF AN HOUR (score to settle with SOMEONE for that!) at union than the 3 hours or so at mandarin hotel.

in fact even GETTING READY was more fun than BEING THERE!

because being there is just being there.

being surrounded by lots of expensive dresses and feeling bad about my own $28 one.

taking pictures now and then.

summoning a very mild interest in the programs because there isnt anything else to do.

eating (well that at least was pretty good, though i was by far the most unglam eater. cutlery and me do not agree with each other.)

(speaking of which i still cannot figure out how i ended up being the only one to drop food (thrice) despite having my chopsticks switched to a fork after 2 disastrous minutes into the first course.)

(WHY? is my finger dexterity really that bad?)

im trying very hard to remember anything else interesting that happened at prom besides my eating.

i do remember feeling sorry for the prom queen/king nominees because our entertainment was derived primarily from their humiliation (and im not sure if they even got a prize in the end) but i felt even more sorry for me because the games the organizers came up with were just so BAD.

not fun, not funny. just blah.

like a competition to see which female contestant could drink coke the fastest.

how is that fun/funny? why do we care about their bladder endurance?

and the Q&A questions?

'how many babies can an armadillo give birth to at the same time?'

who cares?!

Q&A exists for ppl to laugh at silly answers pageant contestants give.

if not 'boomz' wouldnt exist.

the organizers DID get one thing right though.

they invited xen people to perform!

(just one dance. and only derrick and feliz.)

but still. that worked out really well because i bumped into feliz in the toilet and was able to borrow her salsa shoes to go to union in.

else i wouldnt even have been able to enjoy that half an hour there.

oh speaking of dancing, it was another one of those humiliating things the contestants had to do which was soooo interesting because it was like watching an unplanned war happen right before your eyes.

i DO feel for them, its definitely extremely embarrassing to 1) have to freestyle in front of your schoolmates 2) not know HOW to 3) coordinate with some random person you probably just met 2 seconds ago.

that being said, it was funny as hell.

especially guy in white who seemed to not get any of the very clear signals girl in grey was sending as to what to do next. i thought it was common knowledge that if the girl puts her hand on the guy's shoulder he puts his on her waist.

strangely guy in white seemed unaware of that and intent on doing a funny kicking thing even though the couple behind had already succeeded in doing it.

unfortunately i couldnt see the winning couple because some speakers were blocking my view and all i could see were legs jumping around enthusiastically.

other than that, the rest of prom is just a blurred experience punctuated by food.

the fun part was going to union!

i couldnt stuff my extra clothes into the tiny clutch so i had to borrow some from dionne (who agreed only after i said i'd pay her. what are friends for right.) because there was no way i could dance in the dress without spoiling it (yes its only $28 BUT STILL).

so thankfully i didnt have to endure the dress much longer (it was irritating having to keep checking that the top part wasnt down and the bottom part wasnt up) and feliz's shoes also fit so wonderfully that i felt really secure and could actually spin better than i usually do, simply because the shoes felt so right.

(what on earth is wrong with my own?)

dionne and i managed to squeeze in a satisfying amount of socialing which we really needed since we havent practiced salsa properly in like the 6 months since my birthday but left in half an hour because we thought we could share cab with SOMEBODY and co who ended up disappearing SOMEWHERE and so in the end left early for absolutely no reason.

sheesh.

and we actually paid $1 for entrance!

ONE DOLLAR!!!!!!

my heart breaks for that dollar.

i wonder what everyone else did afterwards.

i heard lots of clubbing plans but i still wonder what they actually DO in the club.

what is clubbing exactly?

i know people say 'dancing' but from what i see on tv it just looks like mindless jumping around.

(unless its the butter factory where supposedly there is real hiphop.)

and of course, drinking.

but it tastes bad and you get a hangover after that. so why.

and why take the chance that you might do something unglam when drunk?

will someone enlighten me please.

that said, i shall end off this looong entry now.

pictures when i remember them.

taa.
