idiots, hypocrites and jerks. what's new?

2006-03-12 9:45 p.m.

today was indeed jam-packed with activities, as earlier predicted.

i kickstarted my sunday by getting up in a really bad mood at 6am for the dumb blissmap race thing. getting up early on a sunday is so much worse than on a weekday.

i met tan min at the chinese garden mrt station and slowly strolled to the entrance of the sports complex. we saw the rest of the class, most of them oohing and aahing at each other's clothes. weirdos.

then we had 'breakfast' in the stadium, facing the rising sun. me yz and tan min held a debate over why the sun was known as grandfather and the moon as lady. it just didnt make any sense.

after that was done we had to haul stupid goody bags from one location to another, whilst those idiot people stood around ordering us about and complaining when we took shortcuts through their work areas. honestly those people are such hypocrites. they have 'we love children' at the back of their t-shirts but yet they put us through such tough times.

they even made us wear those same shirts, which seemed rather dumb on people who werent really out of childhood yet.

soon the people started streaming in and we had nothing to do, so yz and i perched on a railing and people-watched. we played an analysing people game and tried to guess why they dressed this way, acted like that, shaved their heads and etc.

then we were split up into groups as station masters. we were supposed to stand at certain posts and direct the racers. tan min zhuqing yz and i formed a group and were assigned to jurong east library at first, but then there was some confusion and they re-assigned everyone all over again and we had to go to bukit batok nature reserve instead.

then tan min pulled a hero act and decided to go join jun hui and amanda's group instead because they only had a strength of 2 people. tsktsk. it was a decision zhuqing would be pissed at for the next 5 hours.

well our group leaders were a pair of indian guys who turned out to b total jerks in the end. we boarded the bus, alighted at bukit batok and made poor zhuqing go up to the summit of the hill with the 2 guys whilst we (yz and i) stayed at the foot. tsktsk. till now i wonder how she entertained herself for that 5 hours.

well. at the beginning, yz and i were energetic and optimistic, practising our dance moves and trying to count the number of people who stared at the strange picture we made whilst passing by. we even had a race down the hill once.

as the hours went by we got more and more depressed and bored. the racers were SO SLOW. we sat down in the middle of the road (it was either that or the grass, we were on an uphill slope) and just bickered about the teacher who made us go there in the first place. then because we were bored we moved further down the hill where a little more traffic was, sat down on the road again and did yoga. honestly it was hilarious seeing all the disbelieved faces from the cars.

well we soon got bored, and a little embarrassed, from all the staring, so we went back up and repeated the walk-around-sit-down-complain ritual before we simultaneously discovered that we were very hungry. so we called the indian guys and asked to go buy food, but it was instantly forbidden. so much for 'we love children.'

by this time a few racers had arrived, and the sight of them inspired an idea. we called tan min and tried to get her to deliver some food to us via the racers, and when she FINALLY decided to abide by our wishes she discovered she had no money, and that neither jun hui nor amanda, the ATMs, had a cent on them either. how very....convenient.

so we went back to our ritual, and between the 2 of us another idea formed. we started making signs out of the twigs and branches on the floor for the racers and all who pass by to see. the final result was really impressive. 'help we are hungry' was spelt out across the road, with both of us sprawled next to it. unfortunately all we got out of it was a couple of biscuits from a kind racer who donated them out of his goody bag (the one we had hauled around before that).

another hour passed by, together with a handful of racers who laughed and made sympathetic sounds but did nothing to help us. in the end we were so famished we decided that enough was enough and made another sign 'we have gone for lunch' and ran off.

we rushed all the 1000 metres to the nearest petrol station and back, still directing lost-looking racers on the way. the result? when we got back, our sign was kicked to pieces. jeez.

we had lunch sitting on the road, and were feeling much better when the indian guy called to check if we had fainted. how very heartwarming. he also announced that a food car was coming with lunch in it, and that we were to stop all the cars that passed by and ask if they had the food. i wonder why people dont like indians, they're so wonderfully likable.

lunch turned out to b the same as breakfast. these people lack creativity.

thankfully after about another hour or so the event finally ended. i went home and instead of getting that much-deserved rest i had to see the blank faces of the 1520 ppl. some of them didnt even know that i existed, or that joy had a sister, or that joy's house also happens to be MY house as well. i suppose im finally facing the music for not attending all those bible study and introduction sessions.

well dora and i went up and entertained ourselves playing sims and ginger and bubble. then some airheads came up and we were rather uncomfortable because we didnt know those people, we didn't like what we knew about them, and we, or at least i, had a slight obligation to entertain guests.

this situation kept arising throughout the entire time they were here. when ziqi michelle and co came up it was sort of awkward because we didnt really know each other. and, thanks to stupid dora, i had to endure this really idiotic moment when a whole bunch of unfamiliar faces stared at me whilst i tried to sort out everyone's dinner plans. it didnt help that i didnt know anything about how much pizza joy was going to order and NOBODY seemed to know what they wanted to do.

in the end a few of them went to westmall with me and dora for dinner. more awkwardness throughout the entire time. really, i dont think any of us are going to fit into the 1520 crowd anytime soon.

i am so ready for a whole day of doing nothing, for once.
