the school must think we need a tan.
sure, we're all a bunch of devout sun-worshippers, that's why we were cowering under umbrellas, papers, little pieces of cardboard and various other devices as they forced us to bake in the field under what must have been a very happy sun, it was shining so brightly, whilst they noblely sacrificied this opportunity for their skins to increase in melanin pigmentation by sitting under a tent, leaving us with all those wonderful harmful UV rays.
oh my, all those students hiding under trees are missing out on this wonderful invention of God! must force them out to sit in the field to marvel at the forces of nature. red is a lovely color, what's wrong with your skin turning that? gee, all those students buried under umbrellas must be having a good time, i MUST make my speech longer as i comfortably stand in the shade and they sit under the sun, to prolong their enjoyment. oh dear, all those devastatingly thirsty and overheated students are heading towards the air-conditioned mcdonalds! they'd freeze in there, how dangerous, we must ban them from going in for their own protection.
sure i see the logic in that. what's not to like?
never mind that i had to rely on a little piece of A4 paper to prevent my face from getting burnt (leading to that horrible skin-on-the-nose-peeling syndrome). it doesnt matter that because of that i neglected my arms and legs, which are now lobster-red appendages. i dont mind in the least that the skin on abovementioned appendages are tight and stinging and uncomfortable.
afterall, it is all for our own good.
that about sums up this year's road run.
and the strange thing is (as if all of the above werent strange enough already)as soon as i flipped open urban later i was confronted with their feature article, which was all about- what else?- skin whitening. fate probably thought i needed help, fast, in that department, hurhur.
oh, and i finally got a taste of what its like to be number 21st, one away from that coveted top 20, after beating qingling by a hair's breadth for that 20th spot last year.
