in a nutshell

well well im back!!! for the time being, anyway. i'll b going again in december.

i cldnt blog the last few days cuz of the lack of connection. oh well, i'll just have to remember as best as i can.

hm, let's see. well on the 4th we left for xi'an. unfortunately more unfortunate events followed the unsuspecting us. first, my dad left his computer bag in the hotel. that sounded bad all right, until he realized that his passport AND the plane tickets were all in that bag. in the end we had to telephone the hotel and request for the bag to be brought to the airport.

all the same, we barely made it. my dad started to lose hope after we were half an hour away from takeoff and our boarding passes werent even gotten yet, so he decided to just purchase new tickets. just as he was handing over $3000< his trusty driver came blowing in with computer bag in hand. the rescue was so perfect that all it lacked was trumpets blowing.

we checked in in record time, and discovered that we werent even the last ones on the plane, which was so small that there were no aisle seats, but thank goodness the flight only lasted for one hour.

as soon as we got that more troubles arose. our large suitcase, which i may add contained every single item i brought, went missing. thankfully after much commotion we discovered that it had been put on a wrong plane, bleh.

we finally, FINALLY, got out of the airport. straight after that my father had to go for one of those deadly dull social dinners that includes weird, ridiculously expensive food. bleh, again. that definitely wasnt one of my better days.

on the 5th, my parents went golfing with the aforementioned social dinner people. i was left alone in the hotel and entertained myself by watching wallace and grommit, which is a complete failure of a movie. do NOT watch it if you havent already.

on the 6th we FINALLY acted more like tourists. we visited the terra-cotta army place. qin shihuang must have been an extremely strange person. not only did he build the great wall, he also constructed this useless terra-cotta army. what was even stupider was the fact that he executed all the workers once the army was completed, causing the level of china's technology at that time to drop tremendously. weirdo.

my mom found the terra-cotta musuem incredibly interesting, whilst i simply yawned my way through. i suppose it IS quite a huge deal to see a clay army thousands of ancient people spent 37 years building, but really i wasnt that impressed. so they didnt have any equipment; that means they were patient people! they DID take 37 years to complete it.

after that we went to the yang guifei lake/river/stream/pond. this was slightly more interesting, because i actually know the story of yang guifei having watched the sitcom on channel 8 once. i shant go elaborate since there was nothing more than scenery there.

on the 7th we went to the very steep hua mountain. not very interesting, except that this kitten who strongly resembled my old cat came running out of a store to mew. the owner said the cat had run down from the mountains and offered to sell it to me for 30RMB. i would have snapped up the offer if only i werent in a foreign country. the resemblance was really uncanny.

well, the flight back wasnt really eventful. i watched valiant and fantastic four, which were more interesting than i thought they would b. after that i started beauty and the beast but then stopped after a while, when i became aware of being able to see other people's screens. haha. i wanted to watch it because i didn't really know the exact story, only that this beauty and this beast met one fine day, fell in love and lived happily ever after. not very detailed.

yep, that's 5 days in a really big nutshell.
