dumb serials

i hate those stupid dance drama serials which, of course, DRAMATIZE everything so you end up watching them go should-i-be-with-him-or-with-her-oh-i-broke-my-leg-but-heroically-i-can-still-dance-on-my-broken-leg-because-i-am-staring-deeply-into-my-partner's-eyes and other crap instead of actually dancing.
and of course what with all this nonsense the non-dancers - like my mom, for example - always end up getting the wrong impression of partner dances.
because i had made the big big mistake of showing her the salsa una video right BEFORE she watched the dance serial, i knew i was in trouble the minute the irritating actress sighed dramatically and said 'its so romantic to do latin dances with the one you love.'
*cringe**cringe*, and as expected 2 seconds later:
'who was that guy you were partnering in that video?'
'...another student at bukit merah.'
'why were you dancing with him?'
'errr because i couldnt do the dance myself?'
'why him then?'
'i dunno wasnt me who decided.'
'hmmmm.'
but of course in mommy terms hmmm is never just hmmm but rather hmmm-i-will-not-pursue-this-matter-for-now-because-i-have-no-evidence-but-just-you-wait-till-i-find-some.
the only reason i showed her the video was because i thought it was a pretty safe representation of salsa, more technical than sexy but then again it would be hard to impress her when she's too busy observing OTHER THINGS like 'why is your skirt so short?' 'why must everyone wear so little?' 'why must you hold the guy's hand?' and so on and so forth.
i blame THE DRAMAS.
they deserve to be sued for planting inaccurate notions in paranoid mothers' minds.
but anyway i shall embed the videoS here because i want a common place to find them all next time.
i dont rly like cabaret so i wont post it.
strangely buffa didnt upload jazz on youtube so i also cant post that.
