butting out

2006-06-29 7:02 p.m.

well today was a fairly boring, normal day except for photo taking which was completely stupid.

im currently reading seabiscuit, and as weird as it sounds its really really funny. apparently all those long-ago ppl were really sadistic, and played tons of practical jokes on each other.

this is what seabiscuit's elderly, weird trainer apparently did for fun.

The old man had an offbeat sense of humor. He once electrified a park bench with wires and tacks, ran a trigger wire down the shed row, hid himself in a stall, and spent the day shocking the hell out of every weary hot-walker who tried to sit down and rest.

in case you dont know, which you probably dont, a hot-walker is someone who walks a horse round and round in a circle for exercise. a useless bit of info i picked up from the book.

why should the above excerpt amuse me so much? because i can picture a walking-sticked, pruney little old man peeking up over a hedge, pressing a button and laughing when the hot-walker leapts up and yells.

which you probably still cant picture, even after my graphic description.

the fact that im copying bits out of books should convey my intense boredom.
