mysteries of the boardroom

a strange thing has been bugging me recently.

i couldnt for the life of me figure out this new mystery of life.

let me explain.

i was reading the newspaper when something weird suddenly occurred to me.

say, for example, the boss of a company married the manager of the same company and started a family, but the manager continued working for the boss (but without receiving any pay of course because they are, afterall, married, and it would be weird to get a paycheck from your spouse?). would they now be considered a dual- or single-income family?

technically speaking there's only one source of money coming in and that's the income from the boss, since the manager isnt receiving anything but room and board and the boss's company.

but they are BOTH working.

and the boss wouldnt exactly have to pay the manager anymore, and that payment by itself is a whole income.

so would they actually be dual-income, because one income is coming in but another isnt going out?

but then again, income is called income because its incoming.

in this situation it cant exactly be called income anymore can it, it would more appropriately be said to be notoutgoing.

so they would, very specifically, be known as a single-income-single-notoutgoing family.

weird.
