enthusiasm, limited

2008-07-19 9:46 p.m.

today i did a silly thing, which is just one more in a long list of silly things i have done.

all because it was raining whilst i was going home.

the kind of irritating smallish drizzle that i hate, because it makes you wet but not completely drenched so you end up being kind of half-dry, a really uncomfortable state to be in.

either be completely soaked or completely dry, i say!

and so, i decided to take matters in my own hands.

which was why i took off my shoes and shirt and jumped into the pool in FBTs and sports bra.

but i didnt have the guts to swim a whole lap because it would mean going to the other side of the pool where there were people who probably witnessed my silly deed, and there was no way i wanted them to see my face.

afterwards when i went into the lift looking like some half-drenched sea monster (because i had put my dry shirt on, duh) my neighbours gave me strange looks and one of them involuntarily went 'eh.'

it was then i realized my FBTs had disappeared under the hem of my shirt and i looked not just like a half-drenched sea monster, but a half-naked one on top of that.

the fact that i was barefooted and holding my shoes didnt help.

anyway! some pictures and updates on cheerleading.

today would be the fourth consecutive week we'd performed, all because of this long line of NE shows for the incredible number of p5s we apparently have in singapore.

and since it had just rained and the floor was all wet, the ngee ann poly cheerleaders announced that the high-level stunts would not be going up, meaning the shoulder stand and ALL the stunts the NUS cheerleaders were doing.

incidentally both the flyer and back spotter in my line for the shoulder stand were absent today, so being the front spotter, i had to wonder what me and the base would do in that looooong period of time.

and incidentally the 2 missing ones happen to be positioned on either side of me, so because i stand right smack in the middle of the line the 2 holes kind of screamed hello-look-at-me!

rather disturbing.

when the dreaded moment of the stunts came me and the base looked at each other, shrugged and just started randomly cheering and waving our pompoms in between the 2 shoulder sit stunts.

in front we could see the other shoulder stand crews doing the same thing, which was basically nothing of real substance, just random whooping and waving.

cant imagine how that must have looked.

however stupid though, it couldnt possibly compare to what the NUS cheerleaders had to do.

because their ENTIRE solo part consisted of stunts, basically they couldnt do anything at all.

so they just did what we did, which was mindless cheering, for the entire 10 or so eighths where the rest of us were only doing inconsequential little things by the side since the focus was afterall supposed to be on them at that point.

needless to say the whole performance was screwed.

oh what do i care.

anyway, some pictures!

another performance group which had a costume designer who probably watched gladiator too many times.

that would be the stunt pyramid with one shoulder sit missing, by the way. the one in the middle would be the shoulder stand (duh), so try to imagine that missing, and the people responsible for it jumping and waving around.

oh here are pictures of the changing rooms.

they are very safe and secure.

now here are some shots of what our fearsome airforce does.

make little fancy meaningless shapes in the air.

not always meaningless though, they are capable of more than that.
