chinese new year

2006-01-30 1:38 p.m.

i havent blogged for so long and SO many interesting things happened, so i shall give a brief recount of each one.

let's see, on friday we had the chinese new year celebrations which werent interesting at all. except for the teacher performances, which were quite hilarious.

the chinese orchestra was as droning as ever. they sound as if they're playing funeral music.

the lion dance was okay, as it was for the past year, and the year before that, and the year before that and so on. they didnt even bother to change the costumes.

what was after that? cross-talk i think. well i dont really rmb anything about that so it must have been pretty average.

the nan hua idol was funny.

and that's about all.

after that i went to the night safari!!!

it was actually more fun than the zoo, because everything is SO dark and since only yz and i were there we got totally spooked.

esp at the bat walk-through. we cautiously walked in, only to run right out when a bat flew at us. it looked just like the ones on tv, and there were no other visitors there besides us.

many of the animals didnt have any enclosures. like the aforementioned bats, the weirdo flying squirrels, the many different species of deer, and the thing that looked like a cross between a pig and an anteater.

sitting on the tram is actually a necessity, because there were no streetlights and everything was dark. walking would be bad enough, but to attempt to consult the map in the pitch-dark area would b impossible.

we went for a show afterwards, which was average. this guy who was pretending to b a part of the audience suddenly stood up and yelled that he had lost his pet, Maggi, and headed to this small hatch we were sitting really close to. he lifted it up and BAM there was a gigantic python right at our feet. quite creepy, that part.

afterwards, to promote recycling, they got 3 incredibly cute otters to retrieve some plastic bottles and put them in the recycling bins. they looked so adorable, running to the bottles and grasping them with their tiny little paws, then running on 2 legs to the bins to toss the bottles in.

well that's about it for friday.

saturday the Ms came to my house. they attempted to play the conquerors but refused to let anyone teach them, claiming to already know how to play it.

well, of course they didnt. they got quite annoying, in fact. as soon as they discovered that chat thing, they kept popping it up to talk to each other, despite sitting about 1 metre apart.

at one point marc typed in 'marco' his nickname, and lo and behold the map lit up showing everyone's locations, because 'marco' is a cheat. dots.

after dinner we watched narnia, which wasnt really as great as everyone made it out to be. the beavers were really cute, though.

let's see sunday.

i got to church, couldnt find anyone and called fum, only to discover him at home, the lazy little twit. so i headed up to the fourth floor and found weihua, sean, and the Ms. instead of gg to the moron service we headed down to the adult service on the 3rd floor instead, but soon went up again because the adult service was so much more boring.

there we met the Ms, huilun and weien. we went down to the empty 3rd floor room and played around in there for a while before gg up, AGAIN, were we met shoes and dodo.

after that we went to the 2nd floor where there was a red-packet-giving frenzy gg on. we walked around and laughed at bald heads and someone not-so-subtlely flirting. red packets were given and then we had photo-taking, as usual. nothing really interesting.

after that we went to thai express for lunch and i played the pictionary game with seth and joy. after a few tries we switched to this game where one person draws out something with his eyes closed and the other attempts to guess what it is.

when we were done with that we played taboo, with impromptu taboo cards. was quite funny, the whole affair.

then they came to our house and we played sims 2 and conquerors. sean got all pissed because the person playing him in Sims had a stupid moustache and goatee and makeup that made him resemble a tiger.

in fact, we made Sim characters of the usual ppl in church. like dodo, weihua, shoes, huilun, weien, and fum. i couldnt help but notice that sean made weihua's sim character the most normal-looking, hee.

well after that we went to my grandma's house, where everyone entertained themselves playing mahjong which i still dont understand.

well TTFN!
