marathon

well after much planning, many setbacks, and having to compromise with irritating 'gracious' people, we FINALLY had our movie marathon.
but of course some things still went wrong. i overslept and got there late, huilun and weien didnt even turn up, and fifi and fum seemed to like 'working' in the office a whole lot. goodness knows what they actually do there. they just walk around briskly, holding a piece of paper in hand, and tell everyone that they're busy. and apparently the little kindergarten kids had a thing on. they were all over the first floor, all of them dancing the chicken dance. hm.
well dora and i finally managed to drag them away from their 'work'. we started watching hot chick first, and it was really quite funny, though gross in some parts. i still wonder how they managed to film that transformation thing.
we went for lunch at peace centre after that. i accidentally bought 2 cokes, and the reason behind that is complicating so i shant explain. we ate at mcdonald's and watched the advertisement for 'chicken little' and 'the suite life of zack and cody' thrice.
after that we went to the arcade. dora and i wanted to try out the grabbing machine first, where you control an electronic claw and attempt to knock the prizes of their shelves. the price for that was 100 yen, so, not knowing what 100 yen costs in sing dollars, dora and i went to the counter to ask. the old lady there was pretty impatient and didnt seem to want to help us much, tsktsk. she just slumped in her chair and replied in a monotone.
but when fum asked her, she seemed to wake up and answered all of his questions. in the end she even got out of her booth to help us around, which was totally unfair! jeez.
well we decided not to play the game in the end and went to try out the driving game instead. i played the first round with fifi and fum, but of course i lost, so i decided to just watch with dora after that. we soon got bored of watching and started bugging them, chanting discouraging words and changing their gears. we also made bets, like who would win, who would crash and whose hair would stand up. they got totally annoyed in the end, ha.
finally they tired of the game and we moved on to bishi bashi. it was totally fun and i spent ONE FIFTY on it, ugh. way too much. there was this particular game that was really hilarious. the aim of the game was to tap the buttons in the rhythm of some music played, and as the buttons are tapped the character on screen would dance this really stupid, saturday-night-fever style dance. whoever tapped best would cause his character's hair to get bigger and bigger. in the end the computer's character's hair got so big that it covered up another guy.
on the way back to church we stopped by a supermarket. fum bought yupi gummies whilst dora bought a lime coke. i spent forever de-gassing the coke for her but she couldnt even appreciate it because she hadnt had a taste of the coke when it was still gassed, tsk.
then we went back to church, dragged fifi and fum away from the office and debated on what movie to watch. we wanted to watch the exorcist of emily rose at first, but sean was totally against it. his reason? he would get too terrified, and dora took his side!!!! even though she wasnt as petrified as he was, of course.
so we just watched the interesting, scary parts in the end. of course they werent as scary since we didnt understand it, but sean still didnt dare look at the screen. we played this creepy part again and again and again till we could all memorise it, just because we wanted to freeze the screen at the most frightening scene so we could make sean look at it. everyone was a little jumpy after that, but still we tried to scare sean, ha.
that done, we still had to decide on a movie. dora insisted on sleepover so we watched it, and though it was very predictable and not very hilarious i suppose it was an okay movie.
after i left, i heard from dora that nicholas challenged six people in the arcade to the driving game, and triumped over all of them. hmmmm, maybe he was cheating.
