belly performance at gek poh!
i arrived at xen at about 3, got freaked out by the stupid woman at the counter who went 'why u so late! everyone here already u are the last' and went in to find most people lazing about, munching on this or that, doing nothing in particular.
we were supposed to be having a full dress rehearsal but since they were practicing the skit first me and dionne didnt have much to do till yanqing wanted to run through our 4 person hip hop, but since all of us were stiff and sore from yesterday the run through was quite terrible.
after that dionne and i went to practice the belly item we were supposed to be performing - which we only learnt YESTERDAY - because we were having massive problems with the stupid veil that kept getting entangled.
in the first place we were only performing for fun, since we had never officially learnt belly dance before. but since its mostly just body isolations (which is xen's area of expertise) it pretty much goes that if you've been at xen, you can do belly (to a certain degree).
after that - i still dont know exactly how it happened - we were suddenly in a tearing hurry (from our previous state of lethargy) because it seemed we abruptly realized we had a lot to do before the performance, like burn the edges of said stupid veil so it wouldnt get ENTANGLED in our costume.
unfortunately we had to get there ourselves since brenda and bianca were going towards pasir ris and we couldnt possibly hitch a ride with them since we were going to GEK POH (which is as obscure as it sounds) all the way at boon lay.
when we finally got there it was, as dionne prophesized, a lot of old people and kids since the theme was, afterall, something stupid like buddy and friends. we couldnt help wondering why on earth they wanted belly dancers at this obviously PG affair.

it accurately portrays how terribly out of place we were, amongst the popcorn and big stupid mascot and incredibly horrible kiddy music.
after lots of awkward walking around with ppl staring at all the jingly stuff we were wearing we finally performed.
it was probably the worst performance i'd ever done (save for the memorable one where my shoe came off) but ha-ha who cares.
performance no. 2 tomorrow at limbang (again, obscure as it sounds) 6.40ish, so BE THERE!
