i FINALLY FINALLY get to blog!!! whoohoo. its been so long since my last post.

well loads happened recently.

saturday:

packing was done last-minute, as usual. well blah blah nothing interesting. i watched wedding crashes on the plane, and it was okay, i suppose, if a little crude at times.

we reached hong kong at 9 something, only to discover that our hotel reservations had somehow disappeared. so we had to settle for another place named 'the panda hotel'. pictures drawn by children or retarded adults decorated the walls and their panda monogram was everywhere. hm. a strange place.

sunday:
we went shopping. hong kong isnt really the shoppers' haven i thought it would b, because everything is SO expensive.

our main objective of that day was to find a prom dress for my sister. in the end, we bought lots of other stuff but no prom dress. hm.

i now have a new, super-powerful graphics card! came at quite a high price, too. oh well.

we took a ferry to this place named harbor city to further hunt for the dress, but didn't find it of course. so we continued trekking for miles, stopping at every dress shop, consulting all of our guide books, to no avail. we bought a suitcase along the way and stuffed all of our purchases into it. i suppose we looked like lost tourists, draggging our luggage around.

eventually we found a shop that sold reasonably nice, reasonably priced dresses. my sis tried one on, couldnt decide whether or not to buy it, walked around for a while, tried it on again, and STILL couldnt decide.

in the end we left without buying it, to give her more time to consider. even now i dont think she's made up her mind yet.

monday:
we went to disneyland!!!!! i was a little disappointed, though. it wasnt all i had thought it to be. it was more pretty shops, cute disney characters, whimsical surroundings and nice landscaping than an exciting, intense theme park. there was only ONE roller coaster ride, the space mountain. it was totally terrific.

the digital effects were so real and the whole place was pitch black besides the 'stars', so you couldnt see the tracks at all. the only thing it lacked was a long steep drop, so there wasnt much of a stomach-dropping effect on the riders. other than that it was really fun.

there was a camera postioned somewhere along the ride so we all saw ourselves at the most intense part of the ride. joy was leaning back with a stunned look on her face, i was sort of leaning forward to the seat in front of me and my father was cowering completely behind the seat. it was sooo hilarious.

there was another ride named astro blast whatever. we had to shoot at targets with a laser-gun thing whilst sitting in a carriage that moved along a track. the targets were supposed to b robots who were stealing planet earth's whatever cell things that powered the great evil guy captain zarg's secret weapon or something. the whole thing was rather kiddyish but still fun.

those were the 2 main attractions, i think. the others were all tame, child-friendly rides. for example, the orbitron was just a carousel that allowed you to control the height of your horse, in this case space rocket, with a joy stick. very boring, but nevertheless we went on it twice. ha.

all these were located in disney's 'tomorrowland' section. the whole of disneyland was divided into four: main street, tomorrowland, fantasyland, and adventureland. each section of different themes. tomorrowland's theme was outer space, fantasyland's was disney princesses and whatnot, adventureland's was tahiti and tarzan, and main street was basically shaped like a french village.

after tomorrowland we moved on to fantasyland but since the queues were horrendous we didnt go on any rides. the same went for adventureland. we just stayed in tomorrowland most of the time, till about evening when we went to main street for dinner.

immediately after that we went to the main square or whatever, to watch the fireworks that were going to go off from the princess castle. the castle was sheathed in pastel-colored lights and sparkling whatevers and looked incredibly disney-like.

about half an hour before the fireworks were due to b off my sis and decided to go ride the orbitron again because we were getting bored. everything was fine till a group of rude ppl cut our queue and caused us to have to wait for another round. we had to race back in time for the fireworks, and since the lights were dimmed, everyone was crammed in the square taking pictures of the castle (which was changing colors frm time to time) and taking pictures, it was a difficult hike. we had to elbow our way through the crowd to find our parents.

well when we finally did, the fireworks started. or rather the music did. 'a whole new world' was played and lights flashed on the castle and into the sky, and the castle changed colors again. then the fireworks coincided with the peak of the song and the castle changed colors again and everything was just perfectly coordinated. the show lasted for about 15 minutes with different disney cartoons as themes, first aladdin, then mulan, then alice in wonderland, then the little mermaid, and a whole lot more i forgot. they had all sorts of effects and fire even erupted from some parts of the castle. the whole entire display was superbly performed and totally beautiful. i wonder how much they spent on building THAT.

we intended to leave immediately after that but then the crowds apparently had the same idea. we moved inches at a time and finally decided to just wait till the crowds were gone to leave.

well to not waste time we went on rides during that period of time. almost everyone was gone, so of course the queues disappeared with them and we went on more rides during that 20 minutes than we did during the whole day. we started off with a rather interesting, humurous river cruise, then on this 3-d mickey mouse show, another wonderful experience. the effects, of course, was excellent, and when the picture of pie came the whole theatre was filled the aroma of food. i wonder how they did that. what's better, or worse, however, was the water that splashed us at the same thing donald duck on the screen was being dunked. hm. after the 3-D show we went on this winnie the pooh ride. we boarded this hunny pot and went through some animations, cute pooh things, and the bizarre-est photo was taken of us. we were all looking to the side, talking, and had no idea a picture had been taken until we alighted and saw a picture of the sides of our heads. ha. well unfortunately, by that time all the other rides had closed down so we had to leave. today: my sis went back to s'pore for her SATS. she's going to stay at pee's and she gets to see ginger! i wonder what her reaction would b? ginger's reaction, that is. my parents and i boarded a bus for shenzhen, so here i am in china AGAIN. ok fine hong kong WAS actually china already but it didnt really feel like it, since the ppl spoke cantonese instead of chinese. im going to some miniature town thing tomorrow! ha, i wonder what i'll see.
